POS software price in Pakistan: what to include in your shop budget

Monthly plans, hardware costs and a shop demo checklist

By AWA Media, Gujranwala

AWA Media's published POS software plans cost Rs 2,500, Rs 3,900 or Rs 7,800 per month, depending on the counter allowance. Hardware is extra. These are our own prices, which you can use as a starting point when comparing quotes for your shop.

The monthly figure is only part of the decision: you'll also need to check the equipment at your counter, what the quoted setup covers and how the software handles the work your staff do each day. Bring those questions to the demo.

Compare the monthly plans

The published prices on our pricing page are:

PlanPublished counter allowanceMonthly software price
Retail One1 counterRs 2,500
Store ProUp to 3 countersRs 3,900
Enterprise ChainServer plus up to 10 countersRs 7,800

Count your billing counters. If several people need to bill at the same time, explain that before asking for the final price, rather than choosing a plan from its monthly figure and finding out later that it doesn't cover the arrangement you need.

The Enterprise allowance includes a server and up to ten counters. Ask how the proposed arrangement will work at your premises, especially if your business operates from more than one location. Get the equipment and installation responsibilities written down.

Work out the subscription cost over a year

Monthly billing helps you see the regular commitment. Multiplying by twelve makes it easier to compare that commitment with an annual or one-time quote.

PlanMonthly priceTwelve months at the same published rate
Retail OneRs 2,500Rs 30,000
Store ProRs 3,900Rs 46,800
Enterprise ChainRs 7,800Rs 93,600

These are calculations, not annual package offers. They assume the monthly rate stays the same and exclude hardware and any other separately agreed costs. Ask for the final scope before making a payment.

If another supplier quotes a single licence price, ask what ongoing support and updates will cost, then compare the same period and requirements so that a lower first payment doesn't leave important work outside the quote.

Keep hardware on a separate line

Our POS hardware is priced separately. Tell us what you already have so the quotation can account for it.

List your existing equipment. If you have a computer and printer you want to keep, tell the supplier which models they are and how many counters need them so that compatibility can be confirmed before additional hardware appears on the final quote.

Also think about the counter's power supply. A software demonstration on a laptop doesn't tell you what happens when the shop's own equipment loses power. Discuss your actual setup and ask which parts need a separate power-backup arrangement.

Keep the software and equipment totals visible on the quotation. That way, you can compare a quote that includes hardware with one that covers software alone.

Take a small test list to the demo

A demonstration is easier to judge when you bring a few situations from your own shop. Use fictional customers and test products so nobody's private information needs to appear on screen.

Try a normal purchase. Ask the person demonstrating the system to explain each step, then have the staff member who will use it try the same task so you can see whether anything needs more explanation before the counter begins using it.

Next, ask about a correction. What happens if the cashier selects the wrong item or a customer returns something? Ask which actions need approval and how the change appears in the records. Treat these as questions to verify in the demo, not features to assume from a price card.

If customer credit is part of your business, include a fictional credit purchase in your test. Ask how it would be recorded and later checked. The supplier's answer should match the plan you're considering.

Ask about internet access and your data

Explain how dependable the internet connection is at your counter. Ask the supplier to show what continues working during an interruption, what stops and what happens when the connection returns.

Data questions deserve the same attention. Who can access the records? How are backups handled? Can you obtain your product and sales information if you later change software? Ask for the export format and any related charges in writing.

You don't need to know every technical term. You do need a clear answer that your manager and cashier understand. If something sounds vague during the demo, ask for an example using the test records.

Check setup and support before agreeing

Ask who will enter or import the opening product list, who will train the staff and when the counter can begin using the system. Confirm which of those tasks are included in the quote.

Support arrangements also affect the purchase. Find out how to report a problem, when help is available and whether a visit to your premises would be charged separately. Write these details beside the monthly price so you can compare the full offer.

If you expect another counter soon, ask how an upgrade would be handled. Confirm any charges and how existing records would be moved or retained before choosing a starting plan.
